Lavandula Angustifolia is often referred to as English lavender though it is not a native, harking from the western Mediterranean, primarily the Pyrenees and other mountains in northern Spain.
Lavandula are small aromatic evergreen shrubs with usually narrow, simple, entire, toothed or lobed leaves and distinctive deep purple flowers in mid to late summer. Low growing, perfect for edging.
Imperial Gem is slightly hardier, taller (30cm excluding flowers) and more vigorous than its sister plant Hidcote.
A tidy, compact form makes it perfect for cottage or formal gardens.
Prefers full sun and free draining soil conditions.
